City of Lee's Summit, MO Utilizes Fusible PVC C-900® Pipe to Rehabilitate Potable Water Lines by Pipe Bursting

Underground Solutions, Inc. (UGSI) recently provided Fusible C-900® pipe to Wiedenmann & Godfrey Construction, of Belton, MO, for the Lee's Summit Water Main Rehabilitation project. The project involves upgrading existing potable water distribution lines in neighborhoods around Raintree Lake, Lakewood, and in downtown Lee's Summit.

Pipeline Details and Project Summary
Project: Lee's Summit Water Main Rehabilitation
Service: Potable Water Line
Location: Lee's Summit, MO
Pipe: 12.687 LF 6" DR18 Fusible C-900®
Installation: Pipe Bursting

The City will replace existing 4" and 6" cast iron and ductile iron lines throughout its system. The project will increase the capacity of some existing water lines, while replacing others at their current size and capacity.

Using Fusible C-900® PVC pipe allows the City to continue using PVC in its system when installing replacement lines via pipe bursting. Using pipe bursting, the City can minimize excavation in crowded utility and residential areas by simply installing a new line using the path of the existing water line. The existing line is cut and pushed aside as the new pipeline is installed.

With Fusible C-900® pipe, pipeline ID can be increased with minimal increases in OD. Fusible C-900® pipe also allows the contractor and the City to use standard PVC and ductile iron fittings to reconnect the lines.

Wiedenmann & Godfrey are using TT Technologies pipe bursting equipment for the project. CES Industrial Piping Supply, a UGSI fusion licensee, is fusing the pipe.
