In 2014, JJ Fox Construction of Corpus Christi, Texas was awarded the first phase of the upgrade, which included several creek crossings installed by horizontal directional drill using 24-inch Fusible C-905® pipe. Double O Drilling of Sinton, Texas was subcontracted to perform all of the drill installations.

Doug McMullen of Urban Engineering commented: “It was important to the project that the pipe material installed in the trenchless sections match the open-cut, bell-and-spigot PVC pipe. Fusible PVC® pipe allowed us to maintain the same internal diameter and pressure class while making connections with off-the-shelf ductile iron fittings.”
